How we work
We are a small but international team, including anti-corruption experts, administrators, comms staff, and online learning experts. Most team members are based in Bergen, Norway. Often, our publications are written by commissioned authors from all continents – coordinated by series editors at U4.
Copyeditors who work with us are normally involved over many years, and we currently need more editors due to our regular collaborators having either reduced availability or recently retired.
Our publication schedule normally enables editors to work at a natural pace. A communications adviser at U4 coordinates editing work and helps resolve questions around contracting/timing, style, visual components, variations authors' preferences, etc. In addition, as an editor/copyeditor for U4, you will most often interact directly with either the series editor, the author(s) or both.
We sometimes request help from editors in drafting sections based on the main texts, such as lead texts, main points, short version/summary, and edited pull-quotes.
Qualifications
- Professional qualifications/certifications as editor/copyeditor.
- Experience from editing academic papers, policy papers, training dossiers and similar.
- Proficiency with British English style.
- Experience working on subjects related to political/social science, governance, global issues, and other themes covered by U4.
Questions / submitting a proposal
We welcome proposals (or any questions you may have) from registered self-employed editors and copyeditors or agencies.

About CMI and U4
The Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) is an independent multi-disciplinary development research institute in Norway addressing issues that shape global development and generating knowledge to fight poverty, advance human rights, and promote sustainable social development.
The U4 Anti‐Corruption Resource Centre (U4) was established at CMI in 2002 to promote a better understanding of anti‐corruption issues and approaches to international development. At U4, we work to reduce the harmful impact of corruption on society by sharing research and evidence to help international development actors get sustainable results. We communicate practical entry points for countering corruption – through dialogue, publications, online training, workshops, and a helpdesk.
